USAC Sprint Car Double for Bacon this Weekend after Valiant BC39 Effort

Lonnie Wheatley, WINCHESTER, Ind. (September 13, 2019) – With a third USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Championship well within his sights, Brady Bacon tries to extend his string of 21 consecutive top-ten finishes in series competition with a pair of events this weekend.

This weekend’s action aboard the Hoffman Racing / Mean Green No. 69 Sprint Car begins with the 20th Jim Hurtubise Classic atop the storied ½-mile Terre Haute Action Track clay oval on Friday before moving on to Tri-State Speedway for the $10,000-to-win “Haubstadt Hustler” on Saturday night.

“We won this race at Terre Haute last year and we’ve been getting closer and better each time out at Haubstadt, so we have a chance to have a really good weekend,” Bacon explained.

“The Macho Man” enters the weekend sitting third in USAC National Sprint Car points.

Bacon nearly captured his second BC39 USAC National Midget feature win in a row last week aboard the FMR No. 76e at The Dirt Track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

After racing from seventh to win his Wednesday night heat race to rank second among the 90 entries, Bacon climbed from sixth to fourth in Thursday night’s qualifier to secure the tenth starting position for the feature.

“They snookered us a little bit with the track, it dried out faster than we were prepared for,” Bacon says. “We were able to gain a little bit, at least enough to get into the feature.”

Working forward from tenth, Bacon ultimately took the lead 29 laps into the 39-lapper.

“We were working the bottom pretty well and made it up to fourth,” Bacon explains. “Then we inherited the lead when Kyle (Larson) and Zeb (Wise) got together.”

A red flag soon after proved to be all that could prevent Bacon from capturing a second consecutive BC39 triumph.

“Under that red, the track dried out some more,” Bacon explains. “There were a lot of marbles in the middle and I just didn’t have the grip.”

After surrendering the point with seven laps to go, Bacon made a last bid on the top side only to jump the cushion and turn over.

“I felt like I had to change it up to have a chance to win the race,” Bacon says. “I did what I though I needed to do and it just didn’t work out this time. We had a really good car and were right there in the mix for it again, the wins will come when that’s the case.”

With four USAC National Sprint Car wins among his eight overall wins on the season, Bacon will look to add another notch or two to the win column with this weekend’s pair of events in the Hoosier State.
